Carrick-on-Shannon is situated in County Leitrim in Ireland on the County Roscommon border. The population of the town was 3,163 in 2006. It is the largest town in County Leitrim. As its name implies the town is located on the river Shannon which is linked to the Erne via the Shannon-Erne Waterway.

 

It is widely known as the cruising capital of Ireland. Carrick-on-Shannon or Carrick as it is known locally is a thriving centre and boasts a beautiful modern marina. It is widely acknowledged as an angler's paradise and within a a10km radius there are no fewer than 41 lakes.
