Steamboat Quay Hotels & Information

Steamboat Quay is a mixed development of commercial and residential units located on the central south quay of Limerick, overlooking the River Shannon. It was the first element of an overall composition for the site, which, now complete, includes a 17 storey hotel tower with restaurant pavillion.

Access to the apartments is from the lower level courtyard where each block is grouped around stair core. These cores are expressed as volumes projecting from the mainly flat interior courtyard elevations.

The ground level interior courtyard is dominated by the feature lift/stair tower located actually on the entrance. This element takes the eye up to the upper level landscaped roof garden, which provides a lid to the multi-storey car park beneath. When viewed at night, from across the river, the illuminated tower signals the inner world of the courtyards.

At roof garden level, access to the town houses on the north and west side is gained via steel bridges spanning to the projecting stair towers of each apartment block.
